The impressive new House of Communication in Munich – where Serviceplan Group unites 40 agencies and 1,800 professionals – now features Blocks smart lockers that streamline workplace operations and enhance visitor experiences.
Designed for seamless integration, Blocks automate mailroom operations, bring convenience for visitors, and enable co-working members to share items, ensuring efficient, uninterrupted workflows.
Serviceplan Group is the largest independent agency group in Europe, combining strategy & consulting, creative & content, media & data and platform & technology services. Known for its innovative and strategic approach to modern marketing, this leading integrated communications agency needed a fitting solution for its brand-new headquarters: the House of Communication in Munich.
The newly built site spans 40,000 square meters and since it was designed to foster collaboration and creativity, the Serviceplan Group aimed to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operations from day one. In this project, we focused on
1. Automated mailroom
The Serviceplan Group needed a way to conveniently and effectively handle hundreds of packages as well as standard mail coming into the House of Communication.
2. Creating a designated area for storing visitor items
Blocks smart lockers supported Serviceplan in creating a pleasing visitor experience by providing a secure space to store belongings. These lockers are one of the first things anyone entering the premises sees, so even more than anywhere else, we were required to perfectly match the design concept of the building that won several design awards, including ICONIC given by German Design Council.
3. Enabling employees to share items
Blocks give employees in a coworking area an option to share documents, keys, and other items without having to arrange a meeting in person.
The House of Communication has a very distinctive vibe, simple yet very elegant appeal that is very close to the core of Blocks' design guidelines and values.
“The building's visual identity is defined by an industrial aesthetic and follows a monochrome palette, something that has been very natural for us to work with,” describes Daniel Benes, International Sales Manager at Blocks, principles that informed the design of Blocks lockers on this site.
The unique goals Blocks was appointed to meet, along with the varied locations of the lockers within the building, called for a tailored approach and design for each.
Designed and manufactured in collaboration with HENN and our partner Bes Brunold, together, we created:
“If we were a standard locker provider, we could have taken a uniform approach, both in terms of design and function. But together, we felt a strong urgency to offer something extra for each area, and I believe the result is outstanding – not only in the world of smart lockers, but in workplace design and functionality overall.”
— Bartolomej Holubar, Co-founder and CEO of Blocks
Likewise, we continuously adopt this principle for the technology we use. As Serviceplan Group was already using Entra ID, our engineering team developed an integration for the mailroom staff to store packages and letters by simply selecting a name from the synchronized address book.
The employee database is synchronized every 24 hours to ensure up-to-date records.
”We always meet our clients where they are – and often go beyond – by working with the tech stack they already rely on, ensuring maximum convenience for their teams. This approach is vital for smooth onboarding and engagement.”
— Bartolomej Holubar, Co-founder and CEO of Blocks
Furthermore, the package and mail deposit process is specifically designed solely for mailroom use, with access limited to authorized staff via a secure QR code.
Serviceplan Group now benefits from safe, reliable and stress-free office logistics hand in hand with premium experience for both employees and visitors.
“Each solution has optimized our space, boosted efficiency, and brought a new level of ease and sophistication to our workplace. Blocks' technology helped us to significantly reduce the time spent on unnecessary operations. We appreciate Blocks' approach in handling the project and all our requirements.”

On a weekly basis, there are dozens of packages that are processed through the mailroom. The evident benefit is that the mailroom matches all incoming deliveries with recipients in no time, so all the dedicated representatives of the House of Communication need to do is collect the package, deposit and select a name from the list, rather than contact each addressee one by one and then wait until they get the package.
“With Blocks’ Mailroom technology, we were able to kill three birds with one stone. First, we prevented the lobby package pileups. Second, we eased the reception operations and let the team focus on the visitor and employee experience. Lastly, we effectively eliminated disruption, so professionals can stay in the creative flow and pick up their packages whenever it suits them,”
— Jovana Kojadinović, Corporate Real Estate Project Manager
“The visitor lockers provide our guests with a secure, seamless storage experience that instantly enhances their first impression of our space. With just a few taps, visitors can store their belongings safely, freeing them to focus on their visit without worry. This added convenience not only elevates their experience but also creates a professional, welcoming environment that reflects our commitment to quality and care from the moment they walk in.”
— Jovana Kojadinović about Blocks setting a new standard for convenience in visitor experience.
As Daniel Benes, International Sales Manager at Blocks, responsible for the project, puts it:“Visitors can drop off as well as collect bags in seconds. It is that one extra thing that turns a simple task into a memorable experience. With every click, the “WOW” effect is tangible here.”
The addition of smart lockers as a central sharing point in the co-working space fosters collaboration and productivity.
“People are able to securely exchange documents, keys, and other items at their convenience. In the age of hybrid schedules, the solution Blocks provided eliminates the need for in-person handovers and minimizes disruptions to the workflow.”
— Jovana Kojadinović, Corporate Real Estate Project Manager at Serviceplan Group.
Designed to support the co-working culture, the lockers enhance efficiency and enable effortless interaction across teams, ensuring that seamless communication remains a defining element of the campus experience.
